Melvin Jackson Jack Scholes Jr.56, of Groton passed away April 23, 2013 in the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Jack was born August 20, 1956 in Ithaca, the son of the late Melvin Jackson. and Edna May Scutt Scholes Sr. He served his country with the United States Navy from 1975-1979. He was proprietor of Jacks Tractor Service in Groton. Jack was an avid classic car collector, and had a passion for Pepsi and John Deere Memorabilia., He enjoyed going to concerts, but his greatest love was spending time with his family. Jack is survived by his daughters: Julie (Paul Nicholson) Scholes of Groton, Gina (Matt)Williams of Groton His brother Douglas (Dot) Scholes of La Fayette, sister Judy (Carol) Smith of Groton, Lori (Randy) Morgan of Ithaca, his grandchildren Jasmine Williams, Kaitlyn Williams , and Melvin Jackson Scholes III. His companion Ginny Space of Groton and his best friend William (Jeanne) Sherwood, several nieces, and nephews . Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service to celebrate Jacks life at his home at 3:00 pm on May 4. Jim and I have known Jack for so may years, and had such a good time with both of you, and looked forward to more in the future. This is so very sad. I've tried all day to reach you by phone, so if I can't get you please give me a call. Phyllis Jack will be missed by the farming community, many farmers turned to him to help them out of a tough spot. Our sons loved Jack's toy tractors and when they were little referred to Jack as the guys "toy tractor repair shop". We loved his pig roasts, his friendship, and calm approach to life.
