Obituary of Jennie A. Ganey
Please share a memory of Jennie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jennie Ganey, 94, of Cortland NY, passed away peacefully at home April 19, 2013. She was born March 4, 1919 in Auburn, NY. Jennie went to work directly from high school in retail and on the factory floor at NCR where she worked until retirement as the executive secretary to the president. She married her late husband William Androsko in 1940 and lived in Ithaca and Cortland, NY until his death in 1978. Active and vivacious her entire life, she played basketball, tennis and bowled. Her greatest joy was on the golf course where she excelled. A member of the Cortland Country Club she was the CCC 1969 Ladies Champion and in 1980 was only the fourth woman to shoot a hole-in-one. She participated in numerous championships throughout Central New York, including a win at Newman, and competed at the Senior Empire State Games from 1993-2006 winning numerous medals in golf and bowling. Always up for a trip, a visit to Turning Stone, and a skit at the Club, her passion for golf was equaled by her passion for friends and family that made her life joyful. Never one to sit around, she enjoyed working around the yard, going out with friends and family, dancing, playing bridge at the club, and traveling to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Carribean, Hawaii, Alaska and throughout the US, but was especially blessed to play a round at St. Andrews in Scotland with second husband joseph Ganey. She was a long time communicant of St. Marys church.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Antonio) Mignano of Cortland, granddaughter and best buddy Michelle Mignano (Christina Parish) of Syracuse, brothers John Warobick of Aurora, joseph (Ann) Warobick of North Syracuse and Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents Peter and Katherine Warobick, husbands William Androsko and joseph Ganey, brothers Louis and Michael Warobick, and sisters Ann Tarby, Helen Casanova and Sophie Gernak.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, 11-12:30 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday 1 pm at St. Marys Church, Cortland. Burial will follow mass at the St. Marys Cemetery.

Dear Pat and family, What a special person your mom was. Beside being a friend, she was also a role model and an inspiration. When I think of Jen, a smile always comes across my face, bringing with it warm happy thoughts and many fond memories. After all, we were the only group of friends whose ages ranged through 40 years (me being the youngest at the time, and Jen being the oldest)....golfing trips, cards, movies, shopping etc. Life was good, and your mom helped make it that way. She will be missed. Sincerely, Jan Hart
Dear Pat, Tony & Michelle, We are very sorry about your great loss. Our thoughts & prayers are with you throughout this extremely difficult time. God Bless, Armando & Livia Natale & family
I know these last few days have not been easy. I am so sorry about the loss of Jennie as a mother and grandmother. Jennie will always hold a special spot in my heart--as a family member, friend and mentor. Jennie's zest for life was contagious. I so enjoyed working with her at NCR and the fun times at NCR activities, cross-country skiing at CCC, getting together w/friends at CCC, phone calls or visits. She was an amazing woman! Remember the good times and cherish those memories forever. Thinking about you and wishing you peace in the days ahead. With sympathy and love, Terri
My sincere sympathies to you all, as it must be so difficult to say good-bye to someone like Jen. She always had a smile and embraced life to its fullest. When I first started playing golf at CCC, she was so good to me, so encouraging and so inspirational. She was the only person I ever met that prepared to swing with a great smile on her face- just like a little kid anticipating the promise of a great shot, but the bottom line was just having "fun". Once we were in the cart together going up 11 and I said her yellow flowers were so pretty...next thing you know, she has dug up a bunch of them and asked me over to get them. They have bloomed and multiplied year after year, their little sunny smiles a constant reminder of Jen. Bless her kind heart and ready smile and all that was her and bless you all in your loss.
