Nicholas M. Papi, 83, of Levydale Pk. , Cortland , passed away April 2, 2013 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Nicholas was born March 3, 1930 in Brooklyn the son of the late Gennaro and Raffela Aversa Papi. Nicholas graduated from High School in 1947, he attended Brooklyn Tech and Brookyn Automotive School. He was a decorated US Army Veteran of the Korean War and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus. For many years Nicholas had owned and operated A-1 Transmissions in Cortland. Nicholas is survived by Patricia Patriarco and her daughters Annette (Scott) Morris, Denise (Tony) Foster, his daughter Debi (Papi) Byllott, sister Nancy (Frank) Visco and their sons Frank and Gene, grandsons Christopher Byllott, Nathaniel Foster, Bryan and Tim Morris, several nephews and Patricias brother William (Margaret) Abdallah and his family. A special thank you to Dr. Patrick Hayes, and the staffs of: Adult Day Care, Cedar Run, and 2 south and 3 south at the Cortland Regional Medical Center for their special care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. Friends are invited to call on Saturday 11:00-12:30 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Relay for Life, Walkie Talkie Team, c/o Mrs. Bev Ryan, 1266 Bell Drive, Cortland, NY 13045 or to charity of ones choice.
