Arthur Henry Dyett, 91, of McGraw N.Y., passed away on Thursday March 14, 2013 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center.Arthur was born in Canastota, N.Y. on August 6, 1921 to Henry and Lucille Dyett. He was also a long time resident of Syracuse, N.Y. and an avid S.U. fan. Most recently he was a resident of the Senior Building in McGraw where at one time he served as the caretaker.Arthur served in the United States Army 6th Armored Infantry 1st Armored Division during World War II from 1941-1945 in the European, African, and Middle-Eastern Theatre of Operations. While serving he was awarded both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After military service Arthur worked as a master welder for Carrier Corporation. He then worked at SUNY Cortland and retired as a maintenance worker after 10 years.In his spare time Arthur was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Arthur was married to Doris Card for 49 years and loved family gatherings with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Anne Ashby of Auburn N.Y. and several nieces and nephews. Two daughters: Linda (Louis Jr.) Marshall, Vicky (John) McCallen. Grandchildren: Paul (Deanne) Marshall, Tina (Alan) Ricottilli, Courtney (Brent) McCallen-Kim. Great Grandchildren: Kaylee, Delaney, Emily and Sadie Marshall; Anthony and Abby Ricottilli; Madelyn and Grayson Kim. He is predeceased by his wife Doris of 49 years, his brother Norman Dyett, and his faithful dog Peanut.A small private graveside military service will be held to honor this very special man.Arthurs wishes were for Contributions to be made to St. Judes, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. www.stjude.org.
