Wilma M. Smith, 82, of Cortland, NY passed away after a short illness surrounded by her beloved family on Friday March 8, 2013.
Wilma was born in Moravia, NY on July 29, 1930. She was the daughter of Cora I. and William Meier. She was a seamstress at the Crescent Corset Company for 39 years. She was an avid bowler and coach junior bowling for 50 years. She received awards for service to youth in 1996, 1999 and 2002. She was inducted into the Cortland Womens Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1981.
Wilma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard G. Smith, her sons Jim (Mary) of Florida, Ken (Bonnie) of Cortland, and Rod (Mary Craig) of Cortland. She is also survived by her daughter in law Lyn Smith and her 5 grandchildren; Bob, Christine, Scott, Kellie and Becky and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wilma was predeceased by her son William G. Smith, her brother Rod and her sisters Freida and Charlotte.
The family invites you to calling hours from 6p.m. to 8p.m. Tuesday March 12 at Wright Beard Funeral Home at 9 Lincoln Ave in Cortland. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday March 13 at Wright Beard.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you contribute to the Seven Valley USBC Youth Association via Brenda Allen at 281 Bowl 3898 Rte. 281 in Cortland.

Harold and I are praying for the Smith Family . We are not family members but Wilma always made us feel like we were. She would always invite us when the family gathered for any special occasion and always made us feel welcome..May she rest in peace in the light of Gods face.

I remember Wila sitting on the porch when I came to the house with Rod.
