George C. Price, 70, of George Rd. in Dryden passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 7th. He was born on January 16, 1943 in Cortland NY, and was the son of the late Harold & Bertha Stanbrook Price.
A lifelong resident of the area, George attended Truxton High School then joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. After serving his country, George worked for the telephone industry in various positions until 1995. George enjoyed antique tractors, NASCAR, and John Deere lawn mowers. He took pride in maintaining the lawns for the History House, & HCCA Museum as well as his own property. Family, friends and neighbors often looked to him for assistance with small engine repair or other projects, and he could frequently be found "puttering around" in his workshop or garage. He married Shirley VanPelt Otis in 2000. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children & their families. He was a member of the TOYS Club, Town of Dryden Historical Society, and the HCCA, giving freely of his time to those organizations in recent years.
George is survived by his wife Shirley, his children Bambi (Al) Avery, Charles (Julie) Edmonds, Carleen Brewer, Eileen (Hardison) King, Annette Otis, Marcie (Zach) Lanham, Melissa (Wayne) Young; his sisters Bonnie Hammond, Mary (Dan) Stone, Deborah (Robert) Lewis; his grandchildren Rocco, Amanda, Caleb, Rex, Moriah, Micaela, Travis, Hannah, Isabel, Adam, Kristi, Isaac, Christian; his great grandchildren Christian, Jackson, Brielle, Caroline; his nephews Donald Stone, Robert (Larissa) Stone and their children Allison, Luka, his niece Kelly (Zack) Jebbett; and many extended family & friends.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 12th, from 2-4 PM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home at 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, with a memorial service immediately following at 4PM.
