Obituary of Vera C. Scott

Vera Scott, 90, of Truxton passed away March 6, 2013 in Oklahoma. She was born June 29, 1922 in Hazen N.J., daughter of the late Frank and Ella Riddle.
Her young adult life was spent growing up in Hazen NJ, where she attended Belvidere High School. While living locally she was employed at Smith Corona, a demonstrator at P & C Food market, and served as her husbands helper on the family farm. She volunteered at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, was a 4 H leader, member of the American Legion Auxillary for over 60 yrs. where she held several offices including president and chaplain. Her other memberships include the Truxton Methodist Church (over 50 yrs.), Albright Grange 440, and Cortland Historical Society. She enjoyed her many friendships, working in her flower garden, and caring for her birds.
She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Charles) Hollon of Mass., Linda (Richard) Mageske of N.M., Sally (Mike) Anderson of Oklahoma, grandchildren Annette Popino, Debra Powers, Kristy Bogle, Sean MacRae, great grandchildren Matthew, Jacob, Joey, Frances, Tyler, Phoenix, her brother Clifford Riddle of N.J., nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Karl, grand daughter Rebecca, brother Harold, and sister Elsie.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday 11 am -12 pm at the Truxton Methodist Church, Rt. 13, Truxton NY, with a service to begin at 12 noon. Spring burial will be in Truxton Cemetery.
