John D. Park, 63, of Cortland, passed away October 26, 2013 at home with family and friends by his side. He was born December 24, 1949 in Cortland the son of the late Albert and Norma Park. John was raised on his family's dairy farm in Cuyler where he had worked until the family sold the business. He was a graduate of DeRuyter High School. John was employed at SUNY Cortland for over 24 yrs., Jack McNerney Chevrolet, and most recently the Dark Horse Tavern. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed being on his boat. His greatest love was for his family who will cherish his memory as a loving husband and father. John is survived by his wife of 36 yrs. Deborah "Debbie" Park of Cortland, his son and his girlfriend John Derek Park and Jessica McUmber of Homer, his daughter and her fiancé Tanya Lowie and Waylon DeGraw of Homer, his brother Gary "Tom" (Grace) Park of Cuyler, his sister Mary Jo (Gary) Lawrence of Cortland, nieces, nephews, his longtime friend David Kile, and numerous friends. In addition to his parents, John had recently suffered the loss of the family's dog "Paco" who held a special place in all their hearts. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard funeral Home inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A Christian funeral service will be held Wednesday 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home led by Rev. Mark Latta. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland.
