Frances M. Strickland 80, of Cortland Park, formally of Dryden, passed away November 1, 2013 in Cortland Regional Medical Center. Frances was born July 2, 1933 in Cortland the daughter of the late Merritt Alexander and Julia Cummings Seamans. She and her late husband owned and operated dairy farms in Dryden, Gouverneur, Red Creek, and Virgil. She enjoyed traveling throughout the Northeast visiting covered bridges, dancing to country music, and attending activities at the Senior Centers. Above all, she enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family. . Frances is survived by her children Robert L. (Debbie Benett) Strickland of Groton, William (Judy) Strickland of Dryden, Daniel (Beckey) Strickland of Virgil, David (Kristin) Strickland of Freeville, Diane (Jim) Basil of Dryden, Nancy Strickland of Dryden, Jane Strickland (Arnie Burlingham) of Cortland, her brothers, Merritt (Beverly) Seamans of McGraw, Bernard (Carol) Seamans of Cortland, 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband Harold, sisters Helen Wakula, Margaret Wakula, and Alice Finton Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. interment will follow in Virgil Cemetery.
