Aileen R. Deannie Kanellis, 78, of Penguin Tr. Pk., Cortland , passed away May 24, 2009 at University Hospital in Syracuse. Mrs. Kanellis was born May 19, 1931 in Cortland a daughter of the late Claude H. and Viola Euson Fox. Mrs. Kanellis had been a lifelong resident of Cortland. She retired from the Cortland Corset Co. after 50 years as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Cortland. Deannie had devoted most of her time to her family, she was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Kanellis is survived by her daughter Yvonne Bonnie Kanellis of Cortland, her son Michael (Carol) Kanellis of Cortland. Her sister Shirley (Norman) Grant of Cortland. Her beloved grandchildren; Joe Hamilton, Missy Jean-Baptiste, Matt, Greg and Mark Kanellis. Great grandchildren; Baylee, Gavin, Bryce and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kanellis was predeceased by her husband Andrew Joe Kanellis, sister Helen Puzo and brothers Donald and Richard Fox. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland with the Rev. Eckstrom officiating. Interment will follow in the McGraw Rural Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Friday 11:00-12:45 prior to the service. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
