Noe "Poncho" Vasquez, 63 of 1380 E. River Rd., Cortland passed away August 29, 2009 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Vasquez was born January 28, 1946 in Laferia, Texas the son of Samuel and Virginia Limón Vasquez. Mr. Vasquez has been a resident of Cortland since 1970. He retired in 2008 after eleven years with the Cortland Community Re-entry program. In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, fishing and hunting. He deeply enjoyed the time he could spend with his children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed. Mr. Vasquez is survived by his wife Phyllis Piedigrossi of Cortland, his son Thomas Vasquez of Cortland, two daughters; Teresa Vasquez of Richmond, CA and Tina Hoyt of Camden, SC, former wife and close friend; Barbara Vasquez Widger of Cortland his father Samuel of Santa Rosa, TX, two step-sons; Daniel Piedigrossi of Romulus, NY and Alan Piedigrossi of Liverpool, NY ,half sister Adela Castillo of Houston, TX., six grandchildren and two step grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 4:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland with the Rev. Matthew Smith officiating. There will be no calling hours. I am so sorry for the loss of Ponch. He was great man and an even better co-worker. I worked with Ponch directly at CCRP as both of us were charge staff. Wendy Oliver This is directed largely at noe's son toms attention as i didn't know the rest of the family-Hi Tom-I'm sure this will be a shock, you may even need to stop for a bit to figure out who i am. i am, of course jessye's aunt, happened to be doing some research on Jess and saw this obit- notice. I am really so sorry about your father passing on-i remember when jess heard of hie illness and how upset she was, both for you and herself. I'm sure she's up in heaven and undoubtedly welcomed him home and she's w/you right now as she has been w/ her grandmother nd me all this time. I will say a prayer for ll your family nd esp. you God bless Donna Rolfe I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. i remember all the fun we had at the Grange while the children were growing up.
