Mary Ann Fox of Jewett Avenue in Cortland passed away in Syracuse, November 3, 2009€¦ four days after her 72nd birthday. She was born October 30, 1937, the daughter of the late Harold and Catherine Walsh Moore. Mary Ann was born and raised in Cortland. She graduated from Cortland High School (Class of 55) and from CCBI. She retired in 1997 after 31 years with the Cortland City School District€¦ first as school secretary at Alton B. Parker Elementary School, and later in pupil personnel at the district office. She was a communicant of St. Marys Catholic Church. She lived for more than 45 years in the churchs shadows on Jewett Avenue€¦ she and her husband Bob raised their family in a house there built by her father. She cherished her neighbors, her classmates, her colleagues and friends, who blessed her with many kindnesses. Mary Ann is survived by her three sons: Tim (Cheryl) of Syracuse; Jon (Tina) of Palmetto, FL; and Sean (Kristin) of Boulder, CO; her grandsons Ryan, Connor and Trevor; and a cousin, Patty Stamm (Karl) of Groton. Mrs. Fox was predeceased by her husband Robert in April 2000, and by her daughter Mary Ellen, and twin grandsons Jacob and joshua. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland with the Rev. Mark Kaminski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Sunday afternoon 3:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home.
