Obituary of Anthony J. Gabriel

Anthony J. Tony Gabriel, 83, of Rt. 13 Cortland passed away Sunday Nov. 8 at Cortland Regional Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1926 in Horseheads, NY, the son of the late joseph and Filomenia Caruso Gabriel. He has been a longtime resident of Cortland He graduated from Cortland High School. Tony served with the Army in WWII. He then married his wife of 59 years, Eva Underwood. He worked for SCM for over 30 years. His memberships included St. Anthonys Church, VFW, and the Moose. In his spare time, Tony enjoyed golf and bowling. Tony is survived by his wife Eva, daughters Charlene Gabriel, Pam (Lee) Williams both of CA, sons Michael (Kathy Adsit) of Cortland, joseph (Lori) of CT.,Patrick (Jodi Young) of Cortland, sister Christine Eaton of Florida, 10 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Nicholas, and sister Rose Sardo. Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Interment will follow at Cortland Rural Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
