Elizabeth A. Betty Fink, 62 of Rt. 13 Cortland passed away Saturday Nov. 14 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 2, 1946 in Cortland, the daughter of the late Eugene and Elizabeth Carpenter Schmidt. She was raised on Summerhill. She attended High School in Groton. Betty then went on to teach at Cortland Child Development Center for 20 years, which she deeply enjoyed. Her hobbies included collecting elephants and traveling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her husband Fred Fink, daughters Michelle Hefner Little of Cortland, Lisa (Jim) Robertson of Hillsborough, NC, Tina (Jim Corl) Hamilton of Cortland, brothers Donald Schmidt of Union Springs, Garth Schmidt of Fl., Roger (Gail) Schmidt of Cortland, sisters June (Fred) Ostrum of Summerhill, Jeanine Guy of Groton, grandchildren Analyse, Kendra, Zana, Kera, Nathan, Makenzie, Kassandra, Courtney, Crystal, and Mariah, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son James Hefner in 2000. Funeral services will be held 12 pm Tuesday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery . A calling hour will be held 11-12 pm prior. Donations in Bettys name may be directed to 59 Pomeroy St., Cortland,c/o Lisa Robertson. Kathiejo Earl Allison and Danielle Joyce & I want to know how very sorry we are to hear of Betty's passing. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Tina, Liza, & Michelle and their families. It's a very tough blow in life to lose a parent so young and full of love for her children and grandchildren. Joyce & I know the days ahead will be tough but you have to believe that your Mom is in a better place that's peaceful and no more pain but never forget she will always be there in memory and her love will live on forever for her children & grandchildren.
