Obituary of John G. Kelley

John G. Jack Kelley, 87, of Pendleton St., Cortland passed away Friday Nov. 27 at Cortland Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 22, 1922 in Cortland, the son of the late Francis and Lena Gerrard Kelley.
He has been a lifelong resident of Cortland. Jack graduated from St. Marys High School. He then enlisted in the Marines and served in the South Pacific on the USS Iowa. After returning from the war, Jack married Carlene Bunney in 1947, and went to work at SCM. His memberships included St. Marys Church, American Legion of Groton, RSVP, and the Willowbrook Golf Course. Jack was also active in softball, volleyball, basketball, and golf.
Jack is survived by his wife Carlene, sons Jack (Suzanne) of Cortland, Thomas (Betsy) of Geneva, grandchildren Jennifer, Sean, Keith, Mandy, Katie, Jack, and Polly, five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Harold Ed, and Robert, and sisters Jane Clow and Patricia Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Thursday at St. Marys Church of Cortland. Interment will follow at Cortland Rural Cemetery. Friends may call 5-7 pm Wednesday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Those wishing to make contributions in Johns name may direct them to St. Marys School61 N.
