Mary Berardi Finkelstein, 96, of Cortland NY, passed away Monday January 18, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born March 18, 1913 in Rockland Lake NY, the daughter of the late Dominick and Lauretta Moretta Berardi. Mrs. Finkelstein came to the Cortland area at the age of two with her family and has resided locally. She was employed by Crescent Corset / N.C.C. Industries for 63 years retiring in 1996. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthonys Church, member of the VFW Auxillary, and inductee of the Cortland Womens Bowling Hall of Fame. She was an avid bowler until the age of 83. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Fayann and Leo Rocky Searfoss Jr. of Cortland NY, son Sanford Sandy Finkelstein of Merritt Island Fl, sisters Angie Chiara, Rose (Anthony) Madonna, Antoinette (James) Weinerth, sister in law Margaret Berardi, grandchildren Andrew Dawson, Jenna Finkelstein, Melissa Searfoss, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Finkelstein was predeceased by her husband Cyril Finkelstein, siblings Andrew Berardi, James Berardi, Nicholas Berardi, Gilda Quattro, and Thomas Berardi. Calling hours will be held Thursday 4-8 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY 13045. A prayer service will be held Friday 10:15 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated 11:00 am at St. Anthonys Church, Pomeroy St., Cortland NY.
