Obituary of Elva Elaine Kelsey McCoy

Elva Elaine Kelsey McCoy, 66, of Cortland Street, Homer NY, passed away Wednesday March 17, 2010 after a brief illness. Ms. McCoy was born Aug. 28, 1943, the daughter of Harry and Gladys Peggy Morey Kelsey. Elva graduated from Cortland High School in 1961. She was a collector of bears and a master at yard sales. She worked for eight years at Highgate Nursing Home as an aide and was loved by all residents that she came in contact with. Elva is survived by her mother Gladys Peggy Hamilton; three daughters, Goldie Sue Sawkins, Susan Walker (Catherine Salce), Peggy (Bill Sr.) Foster, one step daughter Elizabeth (Steve) Coggins, one son Henry Tom (Susan) McCoy, brother, Donald Hamilton (Becky Jimmo); one aunt Lois McDonald, eighteen grandchildren, Aaron (Sara), Jessica (Ted), Dan, Rose (Jason), Matt, Alec, Connor, TJ, Billy, Gage, Philip, Evan, Peggysue (Troy), Starr, Stosho, Angel, Carlos, Kathy, twenty great grandchildren, Katelyn, Arianna, Devin, Robert IV, Amber, Devon, Nathan, Sailor, Logan, Brycen, Alazae, Zoe, Jason II, Troy, Cassie, Dylan, Haylie, Janee, Torie, Meyatia, Shawn; two great great grandchildren, Isabella, Robert V, life long friends Cora Fox and many others. Elva was predeceased by her father Harry Kelsey, stepmother Mildred Kelsey, stepfather Lloyd Pat Hamilton, close friend Agnes Cloer. A funeral service will be held 1:30 pm on Wednesday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland with Rev. John Hartman officiating. Interment will follow in the Cortland Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at 12:30 pm prior to the service on Wednesday. love you mom so much.You will always be miss and in my heart!!!!
