Angelo Charles Petrella Sr. 88, of Cortland passed away June 14, 2010 in Cortland Regional Medical Center. Charlie was born May 26, 1922 in Cortland the son of the late Libero and josephine Louise Petrella Charlie served his country with the US Army during WWII; he had been employed at Wickwire Brothers for over 28 years before its closing, and then retired from Monarch Machine and Tool. He had been a communicant of both St. Anthonys and St.Marys Churches He was an avid fisherman, and hunter, but most of all he enjoyed woodworking making wagon lamps for his many friends. Charlie is survived by his son Angelo Chuck (Billie) Petrella Jr. of Cortland, his daughter Gina (Skeeter) Freeland of Cortland, brothers John (Betty), Anthony (Frances) Petrella , sister Susie Kriever all of Cortland, his grandchildren Michelle (Shawn) Tucker and Jennica ( Ben) Baum of Cortland , sister in law Mildred Petrella of Cortland, his great€“grandchildren Madisen, Brayden, Emma and Carter. In addition to his parents Charlie was predeceased by his wife Rose Salamino Petrella, Brother Louis, granddaughter Monica, and son in law Alec Wood. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave with the Reverend Lukasz Kozlowski officiating, interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
