Gordon Bryan Richardson Gordon Bryan Richardson, 79, of Virgil, New York passed away peacefully at home Monday June 14, 2010. Gordon was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on April 19, 1931 to Lorna and Walter Richardson. A gifted athlete, Gordon earned many awards for his accomplishments in bicycle racing, skiing, and golf. Gordon moved to Virgil in 1962 to work with the Greek Peak Ski Resort as the Director of Skiing, a position he held for 45 years. His accomplishments included the creation of the adaptive ski program and the junior ski racing program. In 1972, Gordon was appointed PGA Golf Professional at the Country Club of Ithaca, a position he held for 25 years. Gordon championed junior golf programs, while serving on many PGA Committees. Gordon will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his warm and loyal friendship, his humor, wisdom, and the strong bonds he built with his friends and family. His grandchildren will long remember the close ties they cherished with Poppy. Gordon is survived by his wife, Monique, his son Grant (Lynne), his son Bryan, and grandchildren Eric, Cole, and Britt. A celebration of Gordons life will be held at Hope Lake Lodge at Greek Peak Ski Resort in Virgil, New York, Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Gordon Richardson Memorial Fund, a fund being created to continue Gordons dedication to childrens ski and golf programs.
