Virginia J Ginny Zeh 87 of Cortland passed away September 29, 2011 in Cortland Regional Medical Center. Virginia was born November 25, 1923 in Cortland, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Frances Naylor Nelson. Virginia was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, was an avid bowler, and had volunteered for the American Red Cross. She had been employed by Fays Drugs, S.C.M, then retired from Pall Trinity Micro. Virginia is survived by her daughter Nancy Bates, of Homer, grandson Michael (Nicky) Bates of Tennessee, sister and brother in law Wilma and Ed Bruce of Newark Valley, daughter in law Bonnie Bates of Truxton, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Virginia was predeceased by her son James Francis Bates Jr. sister Jeanette Cook, and brother Lawrence J. Nelson Jr. Funeral Services will be held 6:00 pm Sunday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland with the Reverend Harold Comings Officiating , interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to call from 5:00 €“ 6:00 pm prior to the service.
