Mary R. Pettibone, 79, of Homer passed away Thursday at University Hospital in Syracuse. She was born Aug. 9, 1932 in Waverly, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Whalen Rogers. She has been a longtime resident of the Homer area. In her spare time she enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, watching hummingbirds and television. Mary is survived by her sons Dale Pettibone, David Pettibone, and Robert Barber, daughters Joan (Stanley) Strough, Sharon (Mark) Levinway, and Mary Ellis, sisters Betty and Donna, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services will be held 11 am Monday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland . To offer condolences online, visit www.wright-beard.com So sorry for your loss. My family and I knew her well, we had tea with her, listened to her stories, and often helped her when the weather was not on her side. She was a wonderful woman and I am sad she has passed, but happy that I have been blessed to have her in my life. Kaylean Contento Mary was a wonderful woman. She often helped me if I needed a sitter for my kids. My kids and I would sit outside and talk with her, she would often share stories and became a big part in our everyday life.
