Obituary of Edith June Rogers
Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edith June Rogers, 93, passed away on November 8, 2011 at Cortland
Regional Medical Center. Known as Junie to most of her family and
friends, she was a native of Syracuse, where she lived most of her life.
June was an accomplished seamstress and a self taught hairdresser,
often treating her friends and family to her talents. A bag of yarn
that she brought home on Friday night became the knitted outfit she
wore to work on Monday. She was most proud of the fact that she was a
civilian truck driver for the US Army during World War II. At the
age of 40 she took up painting and joined both the Baldwinsville and
Onondaga Art Guilds, ultimately serving as president of both
organizations. June was a member of First Church of Christ,
Scientist, Cortland.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jason Rogers. Surviving are a
nephew, Michael Arnold and a niece Tarla Arnold, both of Homer. She
is also survived by two great nephews, Sean and Jason Arnold, as well
as cousins Betsy Beardsley, Janice Clark and Helen Woodmansee.
There are no calling hours and funeral arrangements are
private. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory should
consider June's love of animals when choosing a charity.
