John (Jack) M. Mulhern John (Jack) M. Mulhern 84, of 1635 Brown Road, King Ferry, NY passed away Tuesday Feb. 5, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 14, 1928 in New York, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Mulhern. John raised his family in Cortland and was a communicant of St. Marys Church. He and his late wife, Margaret (Peggy), retired to their new home on Cayuga Lake in 1999 where they spent many happy summers and holidays with their large extended family. He was a retired Lieutenant with the New York State Department of Corrections. John enjoyed hunting and fishing but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and will be greatly missed. John is survived by his sons, James of Long Island, Thomas of Cortland, John (Helen) of Florida, Michael of Virginia, William (Eliza) of Cortland, Daniel (Christine) of Syracuse; daughters, Patricia (Mike) Magid of Long Island, Jane (David) Cox of Virginia; 14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Peggy Mulhern, brothers; Thomas, James, and Raymond. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Marys Church in Cortland. Interment will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland.
