Michael J. Gunn, 64, of Cortland passed away on February 20 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Gunn was born in Aubrun on May 19, 1948 the son of the late Jay and Phyllis (Powers) Gunn.
Michael graduated from Moravia High School. He then went to serve his country by joining the Navy and spent a tour in Vietnam. After returning from overseas he joined the Army from which he retired in 1992. Mr. Gunn is a member of Cortland City Chapter 591, Order of the Eastern Star, Cortlandville Lodge No. 470 F and A M, 32 Degree Member Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Syracuse. In Michaels spare time he enjoyed his model trains, fishing, camping, hiking, writing poems, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Flora, daughters; Stacey (Jamie) Gunn-Snow of Canastota, NY, Tracey (Joe) Gunn-Hernandez of Syracuse NY, step-daughters; Angela (Timothy) Vreatt-Marra of Adams, NY, Elizabeth (Vince) Vreatt-Sonnacchio of Constantia, NY Catherine Vreatt of Adams Center, NY, sisters; Lorinda (Butch) Warner, Brenda (Michael) Angeleri, 8 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Rhesa Soule Gunn and a granddaughter.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday February 23 from 10 €“ 11:45AM with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 noon followed by military honors at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland NY. A Masonic service will be held at 10:15AM followed by an Eastern Star service at 10:30AM.

Stacey (Moose) & Tracey, I work in the Casualty Office at Ft Drum and I saw the request for military honors for your dad. I am so sorry for your loss.
