Mildred E. Redmond, 94, of Homer NY, passed away May 5, 2009 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born August 4, 1914 in Burr Oak, Michigan, the daughter of the late Charles & Emma Matthewson Broker. Mrs. Redmond resided locally for over 80 yrs., graduating from Homer Academy in 1933. Mildred was a member of the Homer Ave. Methodist Church for more than 60 yrs. Over the years she was self employed and cared for many children whom she considered her own. In her retirement, Mildred enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and caring for her cats. She was devoted to animals and their well being. She is survived by her granddaughter Linda (Paul) Long of Preble NY, great grandsons Zachary, Adam, and Micah all of Preble, two special sons Robert Phenes of Cortland NY and Seymour Bradshaw of Homer NY, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford Redmond, son Charles Redmond, daughter Carol Foster, granddaughters Susan Foster & Cynthia Foster, and brothers Richard Broker & Donald Cook. A calling hour will be held Monday 10-11 am with a funeral service 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY 13045 with Rev. Stephen Sigourney presiding.
