I am sorry to hear Laura died last June. She was my suitemate and good friend at Guilford College, and I have often wondered what became of her after she left. I've even did a few web searches in the hopes of that something would turn up.
How sad to read in Guilford Alumni news that she died last June. With this information, I finally did find her on the internet, and while an obituary was the last place I wanted to see her name, the one tiny piece of information it gave about her life made me chuckle: in her spare time she enjoyed hiking.
My fondest memory of Laura is of her hiking up a stony steep mountain trail wearing hard clogs (might have been Stone Mountain). We laughed about it together then, I have laughed describing it since, and I laughed a bit today re-imagining Laura. My example of "urban chick in clogs: obviously doesn't do mountains" is now "woman who climbed in clogs and kept climbing."
To Laura's mother, brother, husband, and loved ones, I offer my condolences.
