Betty V. Doty, 83, formerly of Virgil, NY, passed away May 9, 2009 at the Cortland Care Center. Mrs. Doty was born September 26, 1925 in Freetown, NY the daughter of the late Henry V. and Flora E. Northrup Stebbins. Mrs. Doty had been a lifelong resident of the area. Betty devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed. Mrs. Doty is survived by her sons; Phillip (Roxanne) Doty of Marathon, Russell (Lisa) Doty and Raymond Stebbins both of Dryden. Her step daughter, Jessica Little of Auburn, NY, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Doty was predeceased by her husband Wallace Doty, her son Billy, brothers; Charles, Vinton, Harry, Andrew and Roderic. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, with the Rev. Archie Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Virgil Cemetery. Friends are invited to call 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the memorial service.
