Emmett C. Cole, Sr., 76, of Cortland passed away September 6, 2013 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY. Emmett was a lifelong resident of the area. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1954-1957 and was honorably discharged. Emmett had been employed with Smith Corona for over 20 yrs and most recently with Cortland County Hwy. Dept. He is survived by his sons Emmett Cole Jr., James Torbitt, his daughters Rhonda Schneider, Melissa Cole, Loretta Cole, his brothers Claude Jr., Steven, Robert, and Donald Cole, his sister Sylvia Post, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held Thursday 12-1 pm with a funeral service to begin at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Burial will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery.
