Eleanor Moore Pearse, 93, of Cortland passed away at her home on January 30. She was born on September 25, 1920 in Rockville Centre, NY. She was the daughter of the Late William M Moore and Roberta Sly Moore. Eleanor received a bachelor’s degree from New Paltz State Teachers College (now SUNY New Paltz) in 1942. She had lived in Cortland since 1954 and taught first grade at Homer Central School until she retired in 1979. She liked to play bridge and played golf at the Cortland Country Club. She was also a member of the United Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert C. Pearse. Additional family members include her son Michael R Pearse (Helen) of Chevy Chase, MD, her daughter Nancy Pearse Lepore (Michael) of Stanfordville, NY, grand daughters Darcy and Kimberly Lepore. Eleanor’s sister, Margaret Levchenko (Andrew) of Silver Spring, MD also survives. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Avenue.
