Edith M. Ashford 91 of Cortland passed away February 21, 2014 in Cortland Regional Medical Center. Edith was born August 18, 1922 in Hallstead PA, the daughter of the late Archie and Eva Slater Lake. Edith had been employed at S S Kresge Dept. Store and retired from Price Chopper in Baldwinsville as Deli Manager. Edith is survived by her Sons Richard (Martha) Alger of Cortland, Walter (Mary Lou) Alger of Newark Valley, Sister Betty Kasmarcik of Newark Valley, 5 grandchildren 9 great grandchildren several Great-Great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents Edith was predeceased by her husband Richard Ashford. Memorial services will be held 6:00 pm Wednesday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, NY with the Reverend Chuck Smith officiating. Spring interment will be in Glenwood cemetery Homer will be private and held at the convenience of the family Friends are invited to call from 5-6 pm prior to the service.
