Denver Owen Homer, 89, died November 4, 2012.Denver was a life-long resident of Cortland County. He was born on Snyder Hill in the town of Virgil. Working on his farm in Lapeer, building roads through the town as Lapeer Town Superivsor and later as a foreman for the NYS Dept. of Transportation. He drove school bus, and was a jack of all trades. Denver loved his family and spent many hours planning family gatherings and working with his neighbors. He will be missed. Denver is survived by his wife of 68 years, Cecelia Quail Homer, daughters Audrey (John) Nelson of Colorado and Devera (John) Wetherell of Cortland, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Denver is pre-deceased by his parents, Delmer and Ethel Homer and siblings, Dale, Delver, Donald and Anna. His two surviving sisters are Ada Stevens and Amie Willis, both of Cortland. Calling ours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8th from 10:30 to Noon at Wright Beard Funeral Home with the funeral immediately following.
