Hank and Eva were wonderful next door neighbors for years. We ate together, prayed together and laughed together. They will forever be some of the most special people I knew from Cortland. They opened their home and hearts to me many times. I moved next door to them with my parents when I was 12 and moved away with my own family when I was 37 years old. They were like grandparents to me. Love them both so much and they always made me feel so loved.

Uncle Hank was such a gentle, generous, and loving man. He and Aunt Eva were the only two from our family who could come to my high school graduation party. Though they were older than everyone else and didn't know anyone else there, they seemed happy to be there with me. When I commented on the trumpet tie clip he was wearing, he immediately took it off and insisted that I keep it. They always welcomed me into their home, even when I had small boys in tow. Though my visits with Uncle Hank were few and far between, I always came away feeling special and so glad for the time spent with him. I will miss seeing him with his flat cap and big smile, but I know I will see him again when Christ returns.

Hank and Eva were neighbors on William Street for many years. I remember Mr. Barber coming to clear our kitchen walls after we had a small kitchen fire. I would see him walking in the neighbor and I always stopped with politicial petitions. They were lovely people and we are all better off because they both walked this earth. RIP Hank and Eva.

HANK, may you rest in peace. A mighty man of God and a joyful greeter at Homer Baptist, now Grace Christian Fellowship. HANK always made us feel welcome when we came to church and also noticed if we didn't make it.
HANK told Cathy a couple of weeks ago he was headed home and to look him up when she got there and he would show her around. THE GREETER! Our condolences to his family. God Bless.
