Gary L. Munn passed away after several years of suffering from COPD, on April 15, 2014, with Patricia by his side, in Conway. S.C., Gary L. Munn was born in Cortland on September 17, 1935 to Harry and Ethel Rogers Munn.
Gary is survived by his sons Michael (Joanne) Munn of St. Louis, Missouri and William (Maggie) Munn of Savannah, Georgia. Patricia Kirk, his loving and constant companion and caregiver, granddaughters, Kaitlin Munn of Savannah, Georgia and Brooklyn Munn of St. Clair, Michigan. His sister Jane Glover of Binghamton, brother, Dale Munn of Cortland and several nieces and nephews.
He was a life member of the Cortland Elks, Charter Member of the Marine Corp League and Life member of VFW Post 2354, Cortland. Gary served his country from 1953-1956 in the Marine Corp during the Korea conflict.
He retired as a letter carrier after 27 years from the Cortland Post Office. After retirement, he worked as a sub-contractor at the Homer Post Office. He was also the Club Manager at the VFW Post for several years. He took great pride being an assistant Boy Scout leader and obtain the Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed spending time on his boat at Skaneateles Lake, his friends at Paddy’s Pub, golfing, bowling and watching his sons succeed with their education and their lives.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene in 1984, father and mother and sisters Eleanor Coates and Lucille McConnell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland with Rev. Archie Smith officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
