Robert Snyder, 94, passed away May 4, 2014 at his daughter’s home with family by his side. He was born November 5, 1919 in East Frankfurt, NY, the son of the late Phillip and Blanche Scott Snyder.
Robert came to the area in the early 1920’s with his family and lived in McGraw most of his life . He served with the US Army during WWII stationed in the European Theatre and was honorably discharged. He had been employed with Champion Sheet Metal for 35 yrs. retiring in 1980. He continued to work part time at Song Mountain. Robert enjoyed flying, having his pilot’s license, and owning his own plane. He was a member of the “QB” (Quiet Birdmen), YMCA, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Lois M. Snyder of Freeville, his daughters Bonnie Ann (Malcolm) Heath of Cortland, Mary Jane (Richard) Neff of Dryden, Karla Ray Furney of Painted Post, six grandchildren Ann Marie Card, Melissa Rider, Alene Heath, Timothy (Connie) Neff, Mellora (Doug) Paucke, Derron Heath, ten great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the McGraw Cemetery.
