Cathy Marie Capanzano, 65, of Cortland, NY, died peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2012 after a long illness. Cathy was a devoted wife, mother of two and cherished grandmother of five.
Cathy was born in Roanoke, VA, the daughter of Morris and Frances Thompson. Cathy was employed at the JM Murray Center for several years as a Program Director and Services Coordinator where she influenced many lives.
Cathy is survived by her husband and caregiver, Dr. Charles Capanzano, of Cortland, NY; her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Lynn Johnston, of Conyers, GA and her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Monty Jenkins, of Winston, GA; her father, Morris Thompson, of Colonial Heights, VA; grandchildren Dillon Delhoney, Alan Johnston, Adelyn Johnston, David Jenkins, and Gracie Jenkins. Step daughter Stacey Capanzano of Portland OR and step son joshua Capanzano of Cortland NY. Brother Steve Thompson sister Janie Thompson of VA. Several nieces, nephews, cousins,extended relatives and close friends
Cathy was predeceased by her mother, first husband William Johnston, and other relatives and close friends.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland,NY with a memorial service at noon.
