Helen "Candy" Cosimo, 89, of Cortland NY, passed away June 3, 2014 at the Groton Community Health Care. She was born July 26, 1924 in Providence, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Van and Louise Hibbs Vandiver. In 1947 Candy met her husband to be Sammy while in Daytona, Fl. After a two week courtship they returned to Cortland where they were married and have been married for 66 years. She had been employed with the Chappell's Dept. Sore and Crescent Corset. Candy was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony's Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Willowbrook Golf Course. She also had a great passion for dancing. Candy is survived by her husband of 66 yrs. Sammy Cosimo Jr. of Cortland NY, her daughter Sheri (Kim) Stone of Miami Fl., her son Chip (Pam) Cosimo of Homer NY, her grandchildren Alisha, Brett, Michael, Salvatore IV, and Joseph, five great grandchildren, her sister Gloria Hibbs of Owensboro KY, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday 4-7 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated Saturday 10 am at St. Anthony's Church, Cortland. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland NY.
