Obituary of James R. Parker

James R. Parker Sr., 77, of Cortland passed away June 21, 2014. He was born February 26, 1937 in Homer NY, the son of the late Elmer and Eunice Weaver Parker.
Jim was employed at the Cortland Park Apts for over 30 yrs, Village Terrace Apts where he had resided for the past twenty years along with working at Cort-Lanes. He had also owned and operated his own cleaning business and painted houses with his brother. He began his career in bowling at the age of 13 setting pins at Recreation Lanes. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress, was inducted into the Cortland Bowling Hall of Fame, received two medals in the Empire State Games bowling competition, having bowled a 300 and 800 series during regular bowling. He also enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by his sons James (Tami) Parker Jr., Raymond (Tiffanie) Parker, John (Teresa) Parker, his daughter Marie (Jeff) Riesman, his brother Richard Parker, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 10 am-11 am with a service 11 am at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. You are invited to join the family graveside Wednesday 1 pm at the Glenwood Cemetery. Following the graveside please join the family at Cort-Lanes, bring a dish to pass and bring your bowling equipment to play a game in honor of Jim.
