Obituary of Barbara Kumpf

Barbara Buckner Kumpf, age 91, of Cortland, NY, passed away on September 11, 2014. She was born on February 4, 1923 in Bluffton, IN, to Grace and Franklin Buckner. She graduated from P.A. Allen High School in 1941. Barbara attended Indiana University and Purdue University. She served three years with the U.S. Navy Reserve during WWII as a Yeoman First Class in the WAVES. She was stationed at U.S. Naval Air Station Grosse ILE, MI and Glenview, IL. She was employed at the State University College at Cortland as a secretary in the Education Department and Speech Pathology Department for twenty years retiring in 1986. She was a member of COMWOLEI. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman T. Kumpf, of 65 years of marriage. She is survived by a sister, Beverly Buckner, of Bluffton, IN, and two sons Scott (Carol) Kumpf of Ithaca NY, and Michael (Kathy) Kumpf of Cortland NY. She had six grandchildren, Sean (Christine) Kumpf of Maryland, Amanda Bonneau of Austin TX, Kelly Kumpf of Rochester NY, Megan (Patrick) Duffy of Trophy Club TX, Steven (Hannah) Kumpf of Charleston SC, and Andrew Kumpf of China.
