Obituary of Charles E. Owen

Charles E. Owen , 83, of Cortland, passed away September 20, 2014 in Groton. Charles was born December 18, 1930 in Homer, the son of the late Erwin and Ruth Miller Owen. He was a lifelong resident of the Homer area, graduating from Homer High school in 1948. In 1950 he married Frances Button in Apulia Station. He served his country with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Charles had operated his own farm, worked at Farm Line for 22 years, and retired from Agway. Charles was a member of the Cortland County Sherriff Department Mounted Posse, and was active with the local 4-H. He enjoyed family, horses, hunting and fishing. Charles is survived by his wife Frances Owen of Cortland, his children Darrell (Kathy) Owen of Mocksville, N.C., Thomas (Terri) Owen of Freetown, Sharlene (Kevin) Boyden of Homer, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, his sister Marlene Leonard of Groton and several nieces and nephews.
