Obituary of Suzanne E. McMahon

Suzanne E. McMahon, 75, of Cortland, passed away October 3, 2014 at University Hospital, Syracuse. She was born September 30, 1939 in Binghamton NY, the daughter of the late John F. and Margaret Slocum O’Neil. Mrs. McMahon was raised and educated in Binghamton graduating from St. Paul’s High School. She then attended Broom Community College studying travel and tourism. While living in the triple cities she was employed with the Owego-Appalachian School District driving bus. In 2004, she and her husband relocated to Liverpool then came to the Cortland a short time ago. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, and was active with their church affiliations. Mrs. McMahon enjoyed traveling but most of all spending time with family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 56 yrs. William F. McMahon of Cortland, her sons Joseph M. (Judith) McMahon of Cortland, Christopher J. (Frankie) McMahon of Wake Forest NC, Michael J. (Beth) McMahon of Cicero NY, her sister Metty Egan of Wallingford CT, her brothers John (Sandy) O’Neil and Steve (Diane) O’Neil both of Binghamton, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be Sunday 1-3 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 am Monday at St. Mary’s Church, Cortland. Burial will be at the Calvary-St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Johnson City NY. Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. To offer online condolences visit www.wright-beard.com
