Delores “Dee Dee” Phillips, 73, of Cortland, NY, passed away December 3, 2014. She was born March 5, 1941 in Cortland, daughter of the late Charles Allen and Charlotte Randall Smith.
Delores was previously employed at Crescent and Cortland Corset companies, the Cortland and Homer School Districts, and was currently serving as a crossing guard for the Cortland City Police Department.
Delores was a Charter member of Faith Baptist Church, served as a Sunday School Teacher for 21 years, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She loved shopping, cooking, gardening, but most of all spending time with her family. Her love for God was evident in the ways that she served others above herself and radiated to all those with whom she came in contact.
Delores is survived by her husband Duane Phillips of Cortland, her sons Michael (Ann) Phillips of McGraw, Darrin Phillips of Cortland, daughters Becky (Andy) Giessman of Scranton, PA, Tammy (Troy) Pierce of Olyphant, PA, her brothers Gary (Fannie) Allen of Russell Springs, KY, Peter (Linda) Allen of Castle Creek, NY, grandchildren, Jason and Shannon Phillips, great granddaughter Adalyn Phillips, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Delores was predeceased by her step-father Raymond G. Smith, a brother Kenneth Allen and sister Shirley Rosen.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday at Faith Baptist Church 1731 RT 13 Cortland, NY
with Pastor Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Cortland Rural Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
