Charles D. Charlie Holcomb, 74, of Cortland, passed away October 11, 2012 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. He was born December 12, 1937 in Cortland, the son of the late Millard and Lena Whipple Holcomb. Charlie was a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed at Smith Corona for 39 yrs before retiring. Charlie enjoyed carpentry, cabinet making, along with working with electonics, repairing watches and clocks. He is survived by wife of 48 yrs. Tharis Holcomb of Cortland, his sons Jeffrey (Jessica) Holcomb of Homer, Daniel (Sarah Marcellus) Holcomb of Cortland, Charles Batsford of Syracuse, his daughter Sherry Brian of McGraw, his brother Horace (Betty) Holcomb, grandchildren Ashlynn, David, Johnathan, Tami, Adam, 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday 10-11:45 am with a funeral service to begin 12 noon at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Burial will follow at the Atwater Cemetery, Homer NY. Contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
