Obituary of Donald G. Rood

Donald G. Rood, 89, of Cortland NY, passed away December 20, 2014. He was born July 6, 1925 in Scott NY, the son of the late Leon and Margaret Mahar Rood. Donald was a lifelong resident of the area. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII and the Korean War. After faithfully serving his country twice he was honorably discharged. He returned home, then began working as an independent truck driver working for himself. He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Rood of Homer, his sons Donald W. Rood of Cortland, Terry Rood of Cortland, his brother Gordon (Jeanette) Rood, nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his wife Muriel Rood in 2010 along with several siblings. A calling hour will be Tuesday 1-2 pm with a funeral service to begin 2 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY 13045. Spring burial with military honors will be at the Atwater Cemetery, Homer NY.
