Elizabeth A. "Betty" Homer passed away at Cortland Regional Medical Center on 1-2-2015, following surgery. Betty was born on June 23rd, 1926 and lived in the Cortland area most of her life. On September 14th, 1957, Betty married the love of her life, Joseph M. Homer, who passed away on June 3rd, 1990. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother who was always there as a shoulder of support and listening ear to those who were experiencing life challenges. Betty had a true passion for life and was vibrant and exuberant until her final moment.
Surviving Betty is her daughter Judie A. Hill (Donald) and her step-son Robert Homer (Nancy), several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Betty was known for her resilience, sense of adventure and all things political and newsworthy. some of her most enjoyable moments in life were spent with her group of friends who were like a "sorority" having weekly luncheons, visits, trips to the theater and attending the YMCA. Betty's life is an example of what it mean to live with gratitude and enthusiasm. Her spirit will live on in those who knew and loved her.
Monetary contributions may be made to the Cortland YMCA in the name of Elizabeth "Betty" Homer, in honor of her commitment to wellness, health and community. A celebration of Betty's life will be held in the Spring, her favorite time of year.
