Obituary of Myrtle Marie Klee

Myrtle Marie Klee, 97, of Sempronius, NY passed into eternal peace on Monday, February 23, 2015 after a brief illness at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Myrtle was born March 29, 1917 in Saint Louis, Missouri, to Frederick and Sophie Casteel. She married Karl Klee on August 14, 1934. They were married for 64 years until his death on October 30, 1998.
Myrtle is survived by six of seven of her children: Kathleen Horton of Lake City, Florida; Dr. Karl J. Klee of Venice, Florida; Dr. George Klee of Rochester, Minnesota; Dr. Richard Klee of Pine City, New York; Christine Arnold of Caton, New York; and Dr. Frederick Klee of Phelps, New York. Myrtle is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Karl, second daughter Marie Cunnup, Sister Flora Kalk, Brother Marvin Casteel, grandson Joseph Horton, great-grandsons Adam Campbell and Issac Warriner, and great-granddaughter Elianna Klee.
Myrtle was a long-time resident of Sempronius where she lived for almost 50 years before entering the Cortland Regional Nursing Center. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cortland, NY since 1954. Myrtle was a diligent, self-taught knitter, with afghans and boot socks being her specialties. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, baking, and the company of family and pets.
Visitation hours are from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Hamlin Street in Cortland, NY. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Reverend Cory J. Eckstrom will officiate. Burial will be in the spring at Atwater Cemetery in Homer interred between her husband Karl and her daughter Marie.
