I was a 20 year old college graduate when I came to Lourdes Hospital to work for Helen, and she was terrific to me. She taught me so much that a classroom did not. Things like compassion, and listening, and caring for the concerns for a patient. That was 1968. In 1970, I left Lourdes to get married, and Helen gave me a set of apple shaped trivets that I have used almost every day for almost 45 years and each time I do, I think of Helen and the kindness she always showed me. The interesting side note is that my mother-in-law, Evalyn Chapin Duncan and Helen went to Cornell together and remained friends throughout all these years! My sincerest sympathy goes out to Helen's family. She truly was an amazing lady and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

I am sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful lady. I will miss her very much. Her smile always brought a smile to my face. She was always so full of life. I'm sorry that I did not get to see her before she passed. I wish I would have known she was in the hospital. Ellen, please stop in to visit us in the rehab if you ever get a chance. We would love to see you.
