Obituary of Betty M. Bradley

Betty M. Bradley, 85, formerly of the Cortland New York area and The Villages, Florida, died Tuesday March 3, 2015 at Beechtree Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, after a lengthy battle with dementia. She was born September 30, 1929 in Bangor, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Clark and Ruth Hahn. She worked several years as a secretary for both a local lawyer and SUNY Cortland. She was a member of the local Eastern Star for many years prior to her retirement. She loved playing Bridge and Pinochle and was an avid walker in her later years with many neighbors in The Villages watching over her on her daily route. She also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. She is survived by her companion, Edward J. Bowman of North Carolina whom cared for her for many years in Florida. She is also survived by her children, a son, Roderick (Jean) Bieler of Hellertown Pennsylvania, daughters Cynthia (William) Jay of Fulton, New York and Dariele (William) Drake, Sr. of McLean, NY and two grandchildren, William (Kendra) Drake, Jr. of Dryden, and Blair Drake of Mclean, three great grandchildren, a step son, Frederick Bieler, Jr.of Las Vegas, Nevada, several step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands Frederick E. Bieler, Sr. and Lauren Bradley and her sister Esther Long. The family would like to thank all the Staff at Beechtree Center for the countless hours of compassionate and loving care for Betty over the last few years. Services will be held Saturday at 1:00pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. Calling hours will be held 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Spring in Plainfield Township Cemetery, Wind Gap, Pa.
