Obituary of Thomas Morton

Thomas Morton, 98, formerly of Sears Rd., passed away March 28, 2015 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Facility. He was born January 30, 1917 in Cortland the son of the late John and Mary Hennessy Morton. Tom was employed with Smith Corona for over 24 years then with SUNY Cortland retiring in 1981. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, he loved gardening and was a member of the Men's Garden Club. Tom is survived by his wife of 71 yrs. Kathryn (Shapley) Morton, a niece Terry (Steve) Lamphier and many more nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his ten siblings, a niece Sherry Jones and a nephew Thomas Cole. Tom was a loving gentle man who was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, Cortland. At Tom's request there are no calling hours. Spring burial will be at the Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School, 61 North Main St., Cortland NY, 13045.
