Michael V. Harris, 63, of Cortland, NY, passed away May 8 2015 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Michael was born March 17, 1952 in Cortland, NY. He Graduated from Dryden Jr./Sr. High School in 1970 and continued his education at TC3, as well as SUNY Morrisville.
Michael later met his wife, Susan, while working for Wilson Sporting Goods in Cortland, NY. The couple were married on November 1, 1975; They were married for 39 years.
Michael worked as a maintenance technician for Rubbermaid in Cortland, NY for 16 years until the plant shut down in 1998. He then worked as a maintenance technician for Albany International in Homer, NY until his retirement in April 2015.
Michael had a passion for music. He enjoyed listening to all genres of music, but especially loved classic rock. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He was a lifelong short track racing fan. He wrote a weekly column for Area Auto Racing News for many years. He was a dedicated family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Michael loved in action and deed. He was a very patient and kind man. He was a very giving and loving person. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who were blessed to know him.
Michael is predeceased by his parents Nathaniel and Flora Overton Harris Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Beebe) Harris; his daughter, Jill (Jesse) Harriott of Freeville, NY; his son, Nate (Elisa) Harris of Johnson City, NY; his sister, Kathleen (Harold) Jensen of Fishers, IN; grandchildren, Dominic Bisbee-Harris, Kaylin Harris, Samuel Harriott, Ava Harriott, and Maggie Harriott.
