Obituary of Richard C. Withers

Richard C. Withers, 73, of Cortland passed away May 11, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Syracuse. Richard was born October 9, 1941 in Cortland, the son of the late Charles and Catherine Slegers Withers. Richard had been employed at Al Compagni’s Exxon for several years, his previous employment included Cris Craft Boats, Rubbermaid, SCM and Marietta. He was an Avid Fisherman and enjoyed his trips to area casinos. Richard is survived by his wife of 43 years Linda of Cortland, his children Robert (Penny) Withers, of Cortland, Dusty (Kim) Cargen of Homer, Vickie Withers of Groton, Debra (John) Holland of Marathon, Michelle “Mikie”(Allan) Stauber of McGraw, sister Joyce (Carl) Maloney of PA., several grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister in laws Lois Taraszkiewicz, of Ithaca, Joyce Warren of Sidney, Lilla Towers of Solon, and brother in law Rollan (Nancy) Elwood of Taylor. In addition to his parents Richard was predeceased by his sister Gloria Joyce Withers and brother in law Russell Elwood. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Cortland.
